Kate is as complex, unconventional and courageous and as her jewellery.

In the late 1990s, while living in Europe, she became lead singer of Bulgarian gypsy band, Artery, squatting in an abandoned hospital with a practice room and a small boat for travelling to gigs in the centre of Amsterdam. Supporting Beth Orton at the Melkweg was the highlight.

Back home in Melbourne, inspired by the jewellery of Paris and Spain, she started making and selling her own work at the Greville Street markets before opening stores in the CBD’s Manchester Unity Building and in Elwood.

The success of a small exhibition in the East Village, NYC, led her to concentrate on a collection for an exhibition in Fitzroy, which sold out. This inspired a move to London in 2003, where her work was picked up by Antipodium Agency and sold to Liberty of London, SAKS 5th Ave in NYC, Harvey Nichols London and outlets in Asia.

In 2007, Kate moved to the tropical environs of Bali to produce one-off collections available on her website and in stores across the globe. There she has also designed and built VILLA ROMA – and several other villas in Bali, and given birth to her most wondrous creation yet, daughter Roma Phoenix Fleming.

Also a trained yoga teacher, Kate is currently combining playing music and making Jewellery collections (one production collection and one antique one off collection every 2 years).

Kate has just recorded a new music album and launched a new website for her music at www.KTjewelmusic.com
